Shafkat Hassan is the deputy manager of the people development team at BYLC. His core responsibility for the smooth operation of all day-to-day tasks for the people development team including recruitment; human resource operations; employee engagement initiatives; appraisals; and organizational development initiatives. He is also tasked with leading the automation of the department and assisting in setting up the people analytics division of BYLC.

Shafkat has accumulated a wide range of experiences at both home and abroad. Starting off his career in Thailand where he played an integral part in building up an LED lighting start-up, he worked in both the development sector as part of the DFID SHIREE/EEP project, and the private sector in the apparel and electronics industries. 

He has completed his MBA from North South University with a major in human resource management and a BBA with a major in finance and minor in accounting from Assumption University, Thailand.

In his free time, Shafkat loves to play as well as watch football and is a fan of Arsenal F.C. He sees Arsène Wenger, the former manager of Arsenal as a role model and is one of the reasons he shifted to human resources and people development. Finally, at home, he loves to spend time with his wife and two cats.
