  • 1. Who can apply?

    Any student studying in college or university is eligible to apply. As a significant part of the Summit involves interactive activities and discussions, you should come prepared to actively participate in all the sessions. All 500 selected delegates will be provided reading materials in early June to maximize their learning at the Summit.

    2. What are the benefits of becoming a delegate?
    • You will learn how to exercise leadership effectively on behalf of the issues you care about deeply.
    • You will have the opportunity to share ideas and learn from distinguished leaders and innovators from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, including policymakers, diplomats, entrepreneurs and academicians. These discussions will help you make informed choices about your own career direction.
    • You will become part of a powerful global network of bright and accomplished youth leaders
    • You will experience Bangladeshi culture and cuisine, and gain unique insights on its socio-economic challenges and opportunities
  • 1. What are the "key" dates to remember?

  • 1. Will BYLC assist me with visas?

    You will be responsible for securing your own visa. For any queries regarding visa, please send an email to fay@bylc.org.

    2. Will I get accommodation facilities?

    You will be responsible for covering your own accommodation costs. BYLC recommends the following two hotels:

    The hotels are safe, clean and reliable, and they have been informed that delegates will be contacting them. Shared rooms with other delegates can be arranged. If you seek to stay at either of these locations, independently email them with a copy to summit@bylc.org.

    3. Will BYLC provide transportation?

    Recommended hotels will provide a shuttle to and from the airport. BYLC will provide a shuttle to and from the recommended hotels to Bangabandhu International Conference Center every day.

  • 1. How much will it cost?

    Selected student delegates will have to pay USD 250 to register for the Summit. Registration fees will partially cover the cost of food (morning and evening tea, lunch and dinner), souvenirs, certificates, and course materials.

    2. What are the acceptable methods of payment for registration?

    International delegates must pay in cash, either in USD or in Bangladeshi Taka. If paid in USD, the amount is USD 250; if paid in Bangladeshi Taka, the amount is Taka 19,500. Dhaka has readily accessible ATMs for those who are not comfortable traveling with cash.

These discussions will help you make informed choices about your own career direction.
    • You will become part of a powerful global network of bright and accomplished youth leaders.
    2. Who can apply?

    Any student studying in college or university is eligible to apply. We are also inviting applications from young professionals who are below the age of 28. As a significant part of the Summit involves interactive activities and discussions, you should come prepared to actively participate in all the sessions. All 500 selected delegates will be provided reading materials in early June to maximize their learning at the Summit.

  • 1. How selective is admissions?

    The admissions process is quite competitive. In the first round, all the online applications will be reviewed by an admissions committee. The admissions committee will select candidates for the second round of assessment, which will include a personal interview. The acceptance for the 2012 Summit was less than 20%.

    2. Is there a waiting list?

    Yes, there will be a waiting list.

    3. What are the "key" dates to remember?

    4. If I am not selected as a delegate can I still expect to receive feedback from you?

    We try our best to support the development of youth. However, due to our resource constraints we will not be able to provide individual feedback to applicants who will not be invited for the second round of assessment. If you are selected for the interview and do not make it to the final pool of selected delegates, we will be happy to share with you a scanned copy of your assessment form with comments from the interview board members.

    5. Do I have to stay for the entire Summit?

    Yes, as a delegate, you will be required to stay for the entire duration of the Summit. The Summit structure is designed in such a way that it builds on the concepts covered the previous day. The overall experience will be most valuable for you if you are present in all the sessions.

    6. Can I attend the Summit if I am not a registered delegate?

    No, you will not be able to attend the Summit without going through the admissions process.

  • 1. How much will it cost?

    Selected student delegates will have to pay BDT 3,000 to register for the Summit.

    Selected recent graduates and young professionals will have to pay BDT 10,000 to register for the Summit.

    Registration fees will partially cover the cost of food (morning and evening tea, lunch and dinner), souvenirs, certificates, and course materials.

    Admissions to BYLC is need-blind. While reviewing applications, the admissions committee will have no information related to an applicant's financial status.

    2. Is financial aid available?

    A limited number of financial aid packages will be available for candidates with demonstrated financial need. To be eligible for financial aid, candidates will have to submit a family income statement and an additional essay. This application will be sent to all delegates with the admissions offer letter.

    3. What are the acceptable methods of payment for registration?

    Selected delegates will have to pay their registration fee to BYLC's bKash account. BYLC will not accept payment made in any other mode of transaction.

  • 1. Will I get accommodation facilities?

    No, BYLC will not provide accommodation facilities for the delegates.

Admissions Closed

Our admissions portal closed on May 1, 2014 at 6 pm GMT+6.
The last submission was at 17:59:30. Application received after
the deadline were not accepted. Also, applications sent through
emails will not be considered.

Our admissions committee will now review the applications
and applicants will hear back from us by May 20, 2014,
either via SMS or email or both.

If you have missed the chance to be part of this year's Summit,
we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Please do stay updated

Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), the country's first leadership institute, was founded with the vision of creating a more inclusive, tolerant and just society by training the next generation of home-grown leaders. Conceptualized at Harvard University in 2008, BYLC was registered as a non-profit with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms in Bangladesh on January 5, 2009.
