We recognize that commitments alone cannot produce results. What is required for behavioral change is effective leadership toward our common goals. To equip youth with the necessary leadership skills, we will organize workshops facilitated by globally recognized leadership experts. 500 youth, aged between 13 and 24, will participate in the Summit as delegates. 12 youth climate champions will be competitively selected; each of whom will receive a full scholarship to attend a leadership course and a USD 1,000 award for their climate restoration projects.
1. Learn from globally recognized experts about pressing issues on climate change
2. Develop your leadership skills
3. Network with like-minded peers from around the world
4. Certificate of participation
1. USD 1,000 award for your project on climate change
2. Press release mentioning your name
3. Invitation to attend a three-day leadership course for climate change activists on full scholarship
The Global Youth Climate Summit, a two-day virtual event which will take place on March 11-12, aims to mobilize youth, build their leadership skills, and empower them to lead the fight against climate change. The Summit will bring together 500 youth, aged between 13 and 24, and engage them in an inter-generational dialogue with leading experts in the field of climate change.
The Summit is open to anyone aged between 13 and 24 from anywhere in the world. We are looking for young people who are passionate about tackling climate change issues.
The Summit will take place online on March 11-12. All registered participants will receive a link to join the virtual event.
No, there is no cost to attend the Summit. However, we would expect all registered participants to attend all the six sessions at the Summit.
Participants who will attend all the six sessions will receive an e-certificate of participation from BYLC.
Please look at the program agenda for details on the sessions and speakers.
To apply for the prize, individuals aged between 13 to 24 are required to design a community project, to be implemented anywhere in the world within three months (April-June 2021), which promotes the wellbeing of both ecosystems and human beings. Selected projects will each receive a funding of USD 1,000.
Winning projects will be selected based on their creativity, implementation plan, and potential for impact.
No, we will only accept individual submission. However, you may work individually or in a team to execute your idea.
Please write your project idea within 300 words during submitting the application form. You should refer to our work plan template and budget guidelines for proposal submission.
We aim to fund 12 projects across six continents. Final decisions on winning proposals are reserved by BYLC. Prize money will be disbursed to the winners of the Youth Climate Prize upon assurance that the project proposed will, in fact, be implemented within three months of receiving the fund.
The deadline to submit proposals is March 7, 2021.
The results will be announced on March 12 at the closing plenary of the Global Youth Climate Summit 2021.
