Who We Are
The world around us is changing and this change will bring with it a myriad of questions for our youth. How do they survive, let alone thrive, in an environment wracked by a global pandemic? How can they lead their communities forward through acts of leadership? How can they prepare for an unsteady job market? How can they launch the next groundbreaking business in this uncertain climate?
Over the last 12 years, BYLC has been standing by the young men and women of Bangladesh, equipping them with leadership, professional, and entrepreneurial skills that will enable them to have high impact in public, private, and civil sectors. In a world fragmented by intolerance, uncertainty, and injustice, Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) exists to build leadership skills in youth from diverse backgrounds by instilling values of empathy, tolerance, and inclusiveness in them.
At BYLC, we believe that formal authority is not a requirement for exercising leadership.
Leadership can be exercised by anyone, regardless of age, gender, or socio-economic status. What is required for young people to exercise leadership is heart and ability. BYLC provides a platform for young people to develop skills required to practice leadership and participate in the country’s development process. A cornerstone of BYLC’s approach involves uniting youth from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds because effective leadership requires the capacity to embrace diversity and pluralism. And through this process of empowering young people to act on behalf of issues they care about deeply, we aim to strengthen prosperity, justice, and inclusiveness in society.
